Keith was the Chief of Staff for Pima County Supervisors Richard Elias, Betty Villegas, Adelita Grijalva and Andres Cano from 2002 to 2025 and served on the Executive Committee of the Sierra Club Grand Canyon Chapter from 2000 to 2020. Prior to this, Keith was the Arizona Daily Star’s environmental reporter from 1986 to 1998 where he conducted in-depth research on an array of environmental issues, including the scientific and political lead-up to the listing of the cactus ferruginous pygmy owl. Keith has also served on the boards of  KXCI Community Radio, Food Conspiracy Co-op, Sierra Club Rincon (now Nopales) Group, and is currently on the Tucson Peace Center Board of Directors.
