DESCRIPTION:Save the date for a day of habitat restoration work at the Oracle Road wildlife bridge and underpass! This is a great opportunity to get a hands-on\, restoration experience\, take a tour of these amazing structures\, and learn more about wildlife connectivity projects in Southern Arizona. \nOur goals for the day: \n\nWater establishing plants\nBuild a windrow for wildlife at the underpass\nPropagate prickly pear cactus at the bridge\nRemove invasive plant species (buffelgrass)\nRepair erosion control rock structures as needed\n\nPlease arrive for an 8am start time. Gloves and all other tools will be provided. We will have snacks bagels and snacks to share with you! Please bring a re-usable water bottle. We hope you can join us! \nRSVP here \nPhysical Requirements: Frequent bending and kneeling\, walking in the sun for prolonged periods\, walking on potentially uneven surfaces\, carrying water buckets weighing between 15-25 lbs\, moving rocks weighing between 5-25lbs. \nThis project in funded in part by the Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area and in partnership with Strategic Habitat Enhancements – thank you!

DESCRIPTION:As part of Wild Connections Week — Tour the custom-built wildlife bridge that helps wildlife cross over the CAP (Central Arizona Project) Canal in Avra Valley\, one of our priority project areas. \nThis will include learning about the nearby Tucson Mitigation Corridor\, where two desert bighorn sheep have been spotted!\, the goals and successes of the Desert Fence Busters\, the threat of the I-11 West Option through Avra Valley\, and results from nearby roadkill surveys and what they teach us. Light refreshments will be provided. \n \nWhen: Tuesday\, April 14\, 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM \nWhere: Saguaro National Park West — Red Hills Visitor Center. From there\, we will carpool and follow each other to an area just west on Sandario Road in the Coyote-Tucson-Ironwood wildlife linkage. \nWhat: Up to one-mile walk on uneven terrain\, with stops to learn about and view the custom-built wildlife bridge over the CAP canal. Hear stories about wildlife moving through this area\, including their movement through the Tucson Mitigation Corridor (and what the mitigation corridor is!) and what we’ve learned from nearby roadkill surveys on Sandario Road. The walk will also include a visit to one of our remote wildlife cameras and views of Avra Valley and the proposed location of the I-11 West Option. \nSign up here!

DESCRIPTION:Help us collect trash along our adopted stretch of highway along the I-10 frontage road near Avra Valley Road and the Santa Cruz River wildlife ramp! Gloves\, safety vests\, snacks and drinks\, trash bags\, and pick-up sticks (grabbers) are provided.  More specific information and directions will be sent in an email to all RSVPs. \nPlease RSVP here! \nPlease bring a reusable water bottle and coffee mug. We recommend sun protection and long sleeves/pants. \nThis project is funded in part by the Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area. Due to safety and ADOT regulation\, volunteers must be 12 years or older.
