SUMMARY:Buffelgrass pull in Ironwood Forest National Monument
DESCRIPTION:Join the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection and the Friends of Ironwood Forest for a hands-on buffelgrass pull at Ironwood Forest National Monument. \nThis is a fantastic opportunity to experience the beautiful monument and help protect it from a dangerous invasive grass\, while working as part of a fun group. Buffelgrass is an incredibly invasive\, non-native grass that outcompetes native plants and is a fire hazard for the Sonoran Desert. \nWHEN:  Sunday\, March 22 from 7:30AM-11AM \nWe will meet at 7:30AM at the Marana Regional Airport\, then carpool to the work site. We will work until around 11AM but may finish earlier depending on the heat. Plan for a 45-minute drive from Central Tucson. \nNo experience needed and all tools will be provided\, as well as lots of snacks to fuel this hard work! \nSign up here!\nThe Ironwood Forest National Monument (IFNM) supports vast biodiversity\, preserves ancient archaeological sites\, and provides cherished opportunities for outdoor recreation. Alongside our partners Friends of Ironwood Forest and several others\, we are monitoring threats from the Administration against six national monuments\, including against IFNM – indications that federal officials are considering shrinking boundaries\, weakening protections\, or opening them to mining. \nYou won’t want to miss an opportunity to visit the monument for yourself and help play a part in protecting it! \nThis project is funded in part by Tucson Electric Power (TEP).

SUMMARY:(Urgent!) Stinknet pull at Ironwood Forest National Monument
DESCRIPTION:Join the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection and the Friends of Ironwood Forest for an urgent hands-on stinknet pull at Ironwood Forest National Monument. \nThis is a fantastic opportunity to experience the beautiful monument and help protect it from a dangerous invasive species\, while working as part of a fun group. Stinknet is an incredibly invasive plant that outcompetes native plants and is a fire hazard for the Sonoran Desert. \nWHEN:  Friday\, March 27 from 7:30AM-11AM \nWHERE: We will meet at 7:30AM at the corner of N. Aguirre Road and Silverbell Road (fully paved to the meeting location). We will be prioritizing removing stinknet in areas along the nearby roadbed – where vehicles park or people obviously walk – to reduce stinknet seed spread into the monument.  \nWe will work until around 11AM but may finish earlier depending on the heat.
