Furnace Creek 508

On October 2-4, Bruce Gungle, Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection and Sky Island Allaince long-time supporter and friend, will be competing solo in the Furnace Creek 508 bike race, for “Team Coonhound.” The total distance is 508 miles, to be covered in 48 hours. Team Coonhound includes Sky Island Alliance stellar IT support, Juan Rascon and Sergio Avila, SIA’s Northern Mexico Program Manager as support crew. Team Coonhound is raising funds to support both organizations’ work, and would like to invite you to pledge an amount per mile completed or donate any amount that’s significant to you.

Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival

 Join the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection when it hosts the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour at the Loft Cinema on September 15th, 2010. The Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour brings together a selection of films from the annual festival held each January in Nevada City, CA. The chosen films not only highlight environmental concerns but also provide solutions, reaching people through beautiful imagery, and inspiring local individuals to get involved in “Conserving the Wild & Scenic Places Close to Home.”
