VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CLEAN UP OF SHOOTING SITES AT IRONWOOD FOREST NATIONAL MONUMENT!

On Saturday, June 16, the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Tucson Field Office, with its partners the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the USFS Santa Catalina District, will host a clean up of about 25 shooting sites within the Ironwood Forest National Monument, both on BLM-administered land and Arizona State Trust Land. New signs will also be placed throughout the monument.

The clean up is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. and end at 9 a.m., or until the work is completed. The check in site is on Pump Station Road, 1 ½ miles north of Avra Valley Road. From I-10 travel west to Avra Valley Road, exit #242, travel west about 12 miles to Pump Station Road and follow the signs to the check in site.

All volunteers should check in at this site for safety instructions and assignment to a clean up site. Water, equipment and tools will be provided, however, volunteers may want to bring extra water and snacks. Volunteers should wear appropriate protective clothing, sturdy shoes, gloves and a hat. For the safety of the volunteers and staff, the areas to be cleaned will be posted as no shooting, on this day only.
